"From Upland Druud, I ride."
another dota drawing, this time of disruptor. ended up spending a little bit more time than i wanted on it, and as such, got caught up in a lot of tiny fixes and details, and it was getting kind of frustrating.
hes another one of my favorite heroes: he just has a ton of presence in team fights. i ended up buying the winning polycount set for him as soon as it was released. i think im pretty okay at him.
some fanart of pugna from dota 2. one of my favorite heroes: great voicework, fun to play, and my favorite skeleton hobbit wizard. i’m probably not as good at him as i should be.
just felt like painting. might turn it into a daily thing; doing my favorite heroes.
alternative title: “oh fuck a skeleton”
another spitsculpt today. i chose the theme of “sewer mutant.” pretty happy with what i accomplished in about ~45 minutes.
porgrams used: zbrush for sculpting and color. photoshop to put it all together.
my silly toucan sam for the spitsculpt group on facebook. the theme was fat animal. all i could think of was cereal box mascots. the rules were:
use any program you prefer
time limit of 45 minutes
texturing and presentation could be as long or as short as needed.
heres the tentative final version of rosie!!! it was a journey making her. i learned a lot.
i made all her body and clothing in zbrush, and modeled out all her hard surface in maya, and then just brought it into zbrush for some detailing. the gun was made all in maya. 2014 has a cool crease feature whcih is super nice, but kind of finnicky to get working inside of zbrush, but once you do, its like fucking magic!
after all the zbrush, i made the low poly, and then just textured in photoshop and ddo. dDO is super nice for blocking out specular map. its so good. anyways, thats it!!
a short sculpt based on the Bust of Nefertiti
a study done to help me get into the mood. i didnt want to spend a whole day on it, so i told myself only a couple of hours so i can get some more practice in and then move on.
total time taken: about 2 hrs.
started from zspheres, and zremeshed them into workable geo, then just suclpted from there.
i was actually inspired to do this because i bought the statue from redd in animal crossing and thought to myself: that is a dope statue.
gun and timepiece of equipment i made for rosie. now it is really time for low poly construction. both of these were made in maya and just simply brought into zbrush.
oh hi again. this girl is going through a lot of small revisions now. her name is rosie. there a couple other things left to model for her before i move onto the low poly construction and all that other good stuff. yeah. yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
constructing low poly information and doing bakes is very much a puzzle. you have this piece already made, essentially in a vacuum. it has everything you could have ever wanted in it. all this GLORIOUS INFORMATION that you painstakingly created. in a perfect world (this world not being a 10 year old game engine), you could keep all that information. but because we dont live in a perfect world, you have to take this piece and somehow fit it into this much smaller puzzle. its a big exercise in problem solving, and ill admit, retopoing is shitty, but there is something very zenlike about it. i dunno. its a puzzle. you gotta figure it out. anways. THAT’S WHAT I GOT TO SAY ABOUT THAT.
